Enormocast plug

While we toil away and hammer out hour after hour of Zone specific training Podcasts are a great way to pass the time and bone up all sorts of interesting topics. Matt and I have overlap with what we listen to which lends a laugh when we meet up for climbing, strength or hill climbs but there is so much out there its easy to be entertained for hours on end.

One podcast that we want to recommend to all of our readers is called The Enormocast. If you aren’t already privy to Chris Kalous’ self deprecating genius, the show catalogues every big name / little name climber from around the globe. At the time of writing this he has posted 84 episodes, the last an interview with German climber Daniel Jung. Chris’ interviews are always in-depth and dig into peoples love of the sport, their journey of how they got to where they are and what is next. We can’t recommend it highly enough.

The climbing interviews range from all disciplines; boulderers, ice climbers, big wall climbers, free-soloers, even alpinists. If you’re looking for some inspiration with an entertaining slant head over to Enormocast on iTunes or his website and have a listen. If you email him he will send you a sweet sticker (See my helmet below).

Some of my favorites include: Kelly ChordesHayden KennedyMason EarleLady’s night, Cedar Wright, Alex Honnold, Peter Croft, Jack Tackle. I could go on but you’ll have to go explore it for yourself.

He is chugging along only gaining more steam. I have been listening to Chris not only from the start of this show but his show before this called “Off Belay” as well. He deserves the free plug, thanks Chris for bringing us into the heart of climbing royalty and the hours of inspiration. Support him as you see fit as he builds an audio time capsule of the top climbers of our generation.

Happy training,

James
